Tips to Help Keep Young Athletes Safe:
  • Make sure coaches, volunteers and some parents are certified in CPR and First Aid

  • Make sure coaches are aware of any pre-existing conditions such as the intake of prescription medications, the need for a snack during the games, or any limitations to playing

  • Make sure to have the proper equipment and make sure it fits correctly

  • Make sure there’s a First Aid Kit and ice available at every practice and at all games

  • Drink plenty of fluids such as water or sports drinks before each practice and game

  • Make sure to do warm-up exercises prior and cool-down exercises following all practices and games

  • Keep telephone numbers for physicians and emergency personnel readily available

  • Keep mobile telephones available in case of an emergency
