Tips to Help Keep Young Athletes Safe:
Make sure coaches, volunteers and some parents are certified
in CPR
and First Aid
Make sure coaches are aware of any pre-existing conditions
such as the intake of prescription
medications, the need for a snack
during the games, or any
limitations to playing
Make sure to have the proper equipment
and make sure it
fits correctly
Make sure there’s a First Aid Kit and ice
available at every practice
and at all games
Drink plenty of fluids such as water or sports drinks before
each practice and game
Make sure to do warm-up exercises prior
and cool-down exercises
following all practices and games
Keep telephone numbers for physicians and emergency personnel
readily available
Keep mobile telephones available
in case of an emergency
