For parents of youth ages 6 through 18, the Parenting An
Athlete Program includes a series of weekly training sessions
usually conducted over four to six weeks. Schools, youth
sports organizations, and parent associations can select
from a variety of education modules on parenting topics relevant
to their needs.
Modules include:
- Building Resiliency
- Dealing With Conflict
- Bullying
- Hazing
- Reducing Risk Of Substance Abuse
- The Truth About Performance Enhancing Drugs
- Nutritional Needs Of Athletes
- Effective Communication/Effective Parenting
- Transmitting Values
The Parenting an Athlete Program also incorporates elements
of The President’s Challenge, a program of the President’s
Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and Physical Fitness,
to promote lifelong health and enjoyment of physical activity.
